Magic Village

place for people to find out and experience the neighbourhood online and a community marketplace to promote local business in new immersive ways.

Magic Village is a new virtual reality Primrose Hill website, a place for people to find out and experience the neighbourhood online and a community marketplace to promote local business in new immersive ways.

Local Primrose Hill retailers, cafes, pubs and restaurants will gain a free new online presence where visitors both near and far can get a feel for the space they inhabit, learn about what they offer and see how they fit into our neighbourhood. Visitors to the Magic Village will use its powerful search engine to get destination recommendations based on the visitor’s budget and other requirements, allowing them to filter by several criteria; ‘gift wrapping service’, ‘dog friendly’, ‘vegan options’, etc.

Furthermore, the site brings an element of gamification to visiting and shopping in Primrose Hill online. Retailers will be able to plant ‘hidden vouchers’ on the site which keen-eyed visitors will be able to click on to redeem.

However, the overarching ambition of this new website is to raise awareness of the many great services and businesses within our neighbourhood, which at last count was around 200, more than you might expect, with many hidden away in mews buildings.

Magic Village is run as a social enterprise, with profits donated to the Primrose Hill Community Association. The website, which mixes virtual and augmented reality, was built by Petar Savic who is working with On The Hill regulars Lars Christiansen, Phil Cowan and Jason Pittock.

The site launched in December 20016 with profiles of the businesses that are already advertising in On The Hill marketplace. Further local businesses will then be added over the coming months until the site becomes a complete directory for the best of Primrose Hill, available for anyone near or far.
